Some time ago I was having a problem of building a workflow which could let me build a folder action around importing bluetooth'ed images from my Android phone to iPhoto right on their arrival at Downloads folder only to be processed afterwards to be added to iPhoto Library. That was unsuccessful experience, especially in terms of batch processing, mainly because it turned out Apple hadn't written and built in OS X a set of Automator actions that would process files regarding the order , e.g. timing, they would appear in (or would be copied to) a folder (Downloads in my case) I'm assigning the Folder Action workflow to.
I downloaded two actions I guess are supposed to do exactly the thing I needed and that Apple overlooked from Automator website the link to which you can find in Automator Help pages of OS X. Those were "Wait to Copy" and "Dispense Finder items" (the latter to be used with the Loop action, the former to be placed at the very beginning of a workflow). I modified my "Import to iPhoto" earlier version of the workflow into Folder Action (instead of Process) arranging the order of actions as followings:
1. Wait to Copy.
2. Get Finder items
3. Dispense Finder items.
4. Get Finder items
5. Import to iPhoto
6. Loop
It started acting exactly as I had been expecting for a long time it to act (even with trashing every original which used to be the most faltering and flawed point) with the exception that during Bluetooth transfer after Importing some images it now stops leaving the rest of transferred images untouched in Downloads folder.
Why? The setting of "Wait to Copy" is that it waits for 300 sec for a single file to be copied (I actually toyed with it setting to be 15, 20, 600 sec). Is it too long, too short or what? Sometging other than that? Wrong actions, wrong succession?
Any help would make my life easier to an order of magnitude.
Appreciated,
Ilya S.
