I am no Automator expert, but I've had the same error occur when:
- the window has been moved, resized, or is no longer the front window.
It must be in the exact location and be the exact size as when the
action was recorded.
- I moved the cursor while the the action is running.
- I sped up the action too much.
- a timing issue occurs. If that happens, it sometimes helps record it
again, but waiting a second between cursor movements and selections. Of
course the action will then run too slowly, so you would also need to
increase the playback speed, but don't make it too fast (see above).
It sometimes helps to look at the cursor location at the time the error
occurs.
