Automator vs Spotlight

  • Subject: Automator vs Spotlight

When I use Spotlight to find files matching some criteria, I can get a virtual
folder that contains the results even though the sought files live in different
directories/folders.

When I use Automator, I see there is an action “Reveal Finder Items” that I can
use to show the results. However, it opens several Finder windows, one for
each directory. And it shows the whole contents of the directory, not just the
files that match the search criteria.

Is there an Automator action that works live a virtual folder? Are there
other suggestions for how to view just the results of my other Automator
actions that show just the results no matter where they are located?
