Bluetooth hardware chips

Hi,

I'm a CE student and looking into developing my own prototype Bluetooth
module. But currently I'm having a little trouble finding suitable Bluetooth
chips for testing/developing.

What advice could you give me for selecting a good chip (preferably with
stack onchip)?
Maybe a list of manufactures would be nice.
