Connect notifications

I've just received my two IOGear USB Bluetooth adaptors and they're working fine -
when I use one of the example apps my other computer shows up fine. However
my monitoring application is not receiving Bluetooth Connect notifications.

I'm using the Obj-C IOBluetoothDevice class to set up the notification.

Am I supposed to be able to get the notification even though my app did not initiate or
receive the connect? This type of thing is working fine for FireWire and USB...
