What framework/classes/methods for proximity sensor

Hi,

I am new to both mac and bluetooth development, and I have some questions.

What framework(s)/classes/methods should I use, if the application only needs to know the ID-nr (UUID?) to the bluetooth device (lots of hex nr) and/or name. (ie. My t68). I will not transfer anything to the device itself, but I have to know that it4s in reach. (Similar to Clickers Proximity Sensor). Any ideas on how this can be done?
(I plan to use cocoa through obj-c)

Is there more sample code that I can look at somewhere? The apps included with dev tools are a little too complicated for me.
