Need Help: Device discovery

I am looking for the API hook in the IOBluetooth framework to discover
what services are "floating around" near my mac. I have found all the
stuff required to bind to a bluetooth device after popping up the
panel to browse for available devices, but what I'm trying to do is to
NOT pop up the panel, and to browse for available devices entirely in
code.

Can anybody help me?
