Upgrading to Bluetooth 2.0

Given that the Bluetooth hardware module in the older Powerbooks appears to be connected to an internal USB wire; is it theoretically possible to upgrade these Powerbooks to Bluetooth 2.0? If so, is any company planning of offering such an upgrade?
