System Preferences > Bluetooth > Devices > Edit Serial
Now in Mac OS X v10.4.3 / Apple Bluetooth Software 1.6.6 it seems to be
possible to select all RFCOMM based services if you hold the option key. So
if your device has a bad service database, this will help as in the past.
But there is one limitation (bug). A port with a serial port based service
has to be created first. Then hit OK, Edit Serial again with the Option key
and now it is possible to select all RFCOMM based services for this port.
This is a problem if the device has no serial port based service. I have a
Bluetooth LAN Access Router here (LAP, PAN) and it is not possible to create
a port, because the LAP is not shown without the option key and no other
profile is there. It is impossible to create a port with the option key and
you have to use the old Serial Port Utility.
Yes I know LAN should be done via AirPort but people are using this and it
works great since day one. Really wonder why there is no better support for
it - for example hidden in the Assistant under other devices. At the end a
new port is created bound to LAP and one of the NullModem scripts is chosen.
Voila. That is all.
