access bluetooth

Hi,

I'm trying to write a perl module to get data from a (OS X) bluetooth device to be used by perl. Specifically, what I'm doing in taking data from barcode scanners and sending it into a database instead of standard input. I can't figure out how to do this in OS X though since it's a little different than how UNIX handles devices with it's I/OKit. I plan to make the module publicly available. Would anyone out there like to give me some sample code on how this is done or point me in the right direction? I'm not much of a C programmer (at least I haven't been in many many years).

Thanks!
