in the iPhone 4.0 presentation, it was said that it will allow the use of a Bluetooth Keyboards. If your device is a keyboard or can be made to look like a keyboard, you could follow that route and send our data as fake keyboard input.
Other than that, there are no signs that Apple would provide a real Bluetooth API in addition to GameKit iPhone-2-iPhone and the proprietary Made for iPhone ExternalAccessory program.
Why Apple keeps Bluetooth close is obvious from the business perspective, however the fact that there are virtually no Apple-approved Bluetooth devices on the market (safe for the TomTom GPS) after more than a year since introducing it in 3.0 last March frankly puzzles me. If someone has an insight on that, please tell.
