This is similar to a still-open Radar I had filed on 9/8/09, "IOBluetoothDeviceSelectorController calls unimplemented selector when pairing" (rdar://7205872).

That was on 10.6 and is easily reproducible using Bluetooth Explorer.

Does Bluetooth Explorer reveal something similar to what is happening to your code? It beats writing a sample app.
