I have seen similar problems on somewhat
recent MacBook Pros. Performance is great on MacBook Pros released before
summer 2008, but dismal since.
I was able to narrow it down to the
hardware chipset. If the chipset is Broadcom, a simple write operation
took on average 230ms to complete. If it is Cambridge Silicon, it took
on average 19ms to complete. Unfortunately, it looks like Apple is moving
away from the Cambridge Silicon part and moving their newer hardware designs
to Broadcom. This has caused some major problems for our customers. In
the meantime, we are recommending that our customers use an external Bluetooth
adapter. The ABE 22S USB dongle has the Cambridge Silicon chip and has
worked well for us.
I can provide more details of my investigation
if needed, but the short answer is I don't have a solution.

Hello,
I ran our application on a new iMac and found that a round trip
command to our device and return acknowledge is taking 200ms using the
iMac's builtin bluetooth hardware.
When I use a D-Link usb bluetooth adapter, the same sequence takes
only 15ms. I get similar fast times using the native bluetooth
hardware of MacBooks and MacBook Pros. The iMac is the only
machine
we have problems with.
Any ideas why? Need more info?
Thanks
