Well, I have used the same simulation method as you do when I started CB development. I've never seen this error though. I used a 4S and a Mac mini.
You may try upgrade to iOS 6.0.1 or 6.1beta. Is this an iPhone 5 or 4S device you are using? I guess there's not much difference, but I really have never stumbled upon such issues with my 4S.
Can you describe your environment a little more? Do you use two phones? What apps could successfully connect? Failed connection suggests me that there is communication between the devices, it just erroneous for some reason.
