Hello everyone,
I'm looking for a conclusive answer on whether or not it is possible to access the iOS notification system using any exposed APIs, so that a Bluetooth Smart application can pass that data along (via a custom or official profile) to a remote device. I have read that iOS6 added support for the MAP profile, but I believe this only concerns classical Bluetooth products, not the MFI-free Smart stuff. I have not found any documentation which describes this functionality, and I'm still combing through source and header files to see if I can find anything, but honestly I'm not really sure where to look.
The basic goal is to have an iOS app be able to do something when a new text message, email, or call comes in. It doesn't need to intercept or modify the notification, just read it. Or even just know that it happened, even if it can't read the data inside like the caller ID or source email address, though that would be nice.
It seems this is a recurring challenge for many people. Has anyone figured out the answer? Is it impossible forever, impossible for now, possible but undocumented, or am I just looking in the wrong place?
