If you're considering a MFi Bluetooth implementation, though, you should also be aware that these accessories can only be manufactured by companies that have been granted a "MFi Manufacturing License" by Apple.
As explained in the "Apple MFi Program Enrollment - Frequently Asked Questions" page (http://mfi.apple.com/faqs), only MFi Manufacturing Licensees can purchase production quantities of the critical "MFi Components", and only those companies will be able to submit those designs to Apple for certification. The faq also explains that Apple will only grant the "MFi Manufacturing License" to companies that own a high-volume manufacturing facility.
Therefore, if you want to sell your new MFi Bluetooth product commercially, you'll have to work with one of the companies holding a MFi Manufacturing License. A list of these companies is available to licensed MFi developers.

It may be useful to note that the MAP is a Bluetooth profile. It is not applicable for BLE operations if you are planning for that. AFAIK there is no approved profile or service for BLE that provides such functionality.
To implement bluetooth services you need to enter the MFi program. For BLE you don't.
