Yes, closed as a duplicate means that they already had a report on that, not, regrettably, that it's fixed. I really, really wish that when bugs are duped, as so many of mine are, they would update everyone it was duped on when the original is closed, at least you'd know when you can take out any workarounds or pick up an app you left idle waiting for the fix.
