MAP profile support

If we have a device that we want to use to communicate with an iPhone via Bluetooth MAP profile, is it required that that device be MFi-certified? In addition (or alternately), is an MFi certification necessary to include the required Bluetooth libraries for MAP message support in an iOS app?

 

Thanks for any help. We can’t seem to find a definitive answer on these questions.
