Just to add, I'm glad Apple decided to stop supporting the simulator. Early on I burned too many cycles trying to figure out different CoreBluetooth behavior between the device and the simulator.
Fidelity between software and hardware models is a hard problem to solve, and if they can't do it well enough, it's better not to try at all. Apple engineering made the right call for iOS7.
