Hi all, we are developing a medical device and a corresponding App to receive data from it using Classic Bluetooth. I noticed that I am able to achieve higher baud rates by calling setSerialParameters on my newer MacBook Air compared with my old MacBook Pro where an error is returned if I try to use 230400 baud. We would like to develop an iOS App rather than a MacOS App if we can get similar speeds (though I suspect that will depend on the Device hardware). We are signed up MFI and have some iAP chips that we are planning to incorporate into the design but would appreciate if someone could confirm how high a baud rate we are going to be able to use to connect using RFComm
under iOS7 and whether it is device specific ? We realise that there might be some throttling going on given that the iOS Device wants to implement a fairness in terms of QoS for WiFi and BTLE but if there are any throughput numbers that could be shared that would really help us get an insight on this question of whether we can get away with only developing an iOS App. If we are programming at the RFComm level is there anything that we can do to increase the MTU ? BlueTooth Explorer Tools reports that EDR is supported on the Device but is there something specific that we need to do in order to take advantage of the Enhanced Data Rate. Sorry for all the questions but I'd really appreciate any help or guidance from anyone who already went down this path or anyone who knows, cheers,
Fergal
