Because it was a horrible hack which required fixing/updating to current
C++ specs. Someone at Apple made the decision to axe it rather than
spend engineering resources on fixing C++ support in compiler with
regard to ObjC and bringing its implementation of gcc in line with the
current gcc. But after much hue and cry by developers who needed it,
Apple reversed course. Evidently at the time the decision was made, it
was discussed publicly in one of the Apple Forums and few developers
commented; hence, the decision to axe ObjC++.

This is my understanding of the events based on email exchanges last
year on Omni's macosx-dev mailing list between users of said ObjC++ and
Stan Shebs.
