Well I don't have an answer just a tip. I believe the desktop background
stuff is moving out of the finders control in 10.1 and moving into the
System Preferences pane. Anything you do in this regard will likely be
broken next month. Just FYI

Hi guys,
I'm new here. And like everyone new to a list like
this, I've come with questions i couldn't get answered
elsewhere (but I may have not looked in the right
places). Anyhow, I'm looking to code a program that
needs to play with the Finder, specifically, Finder
preferences like setting a desktop picture. Only
problem is, I can't find any documentation on
interacting with the Finder specifically. I was hoping
someone could send me a link or tell me where to find
this. Most importantly, I need to tell the Finder to
understand that its preferences have changed and
reload them. I'm not sure if that question betrays any
ignorance on my part on how this all works. If it
does, i'll be very indebted to anyone who's interested
in educating me.
Thank you for your time. And I plan on sticking
around, sometimes even a new guy can be helpful and I
believe in giving back.
