Save some external reasons (like makefile vs. Makefile) I just _want_ it so.
What possible reason could _YOU_ need for preventing me to do that?
Do you *REALLY* want to say that whilst you are able to remember and
distinguish "MyColor.tif", "MyColor.tiff", "MyColors.tiff", "MyColors.tif",
"MyColours.tiff", and "MyColours.tiff", at the same time you would be
seriously confused by having "mycolors.tiff" there as well? Sorry, I don't
buy it.
Or sre there other reasons than this theoretical confusion, which would look
like arguments for a case insensitive system? I know of none: if you don't
like having more files distinguished just by case, DON'T -- nobody forces
you. Case insensitivity, though, *DOES* force those who would *LIKE TO* have
more files distinguished just by case! Therefore it's bad: it does not bring
any advantage(*), and it brings limitations.
(*) Well, there is one: it makes easy to browse HTMLs which are made by
those brain-dead enough not to keep the same case in HREFs and in reality.
I've encountered such crap often comin' from windoze. Does not look as the
proper thing to support, does it?
