OTOH, I found some features of the MTLibrarian kinda defficient. Worst of
all, I can't chose which application is to be used for opening files (at
least by drag'n'drop).

Since this assists Cocoa development (okay, MY Cocoa development :), let me share a hack. In this example, it is the lack of MTLibrarian's ability to read the Man pages:

a. Add the extensions 1,2,3, etc
b. Close MTLibrarian.
c. Open up MTLibrarian.plist
d. Edit Search and where there is 1,2,3,etc replace the corresponding string with ManOpen (assuming you have it downloaded).
e. Save and exit.
f. Start up MTLibrarian.
g. Start up ManOpen.
d. Now you can search with MTLibrarian and read the man pages with ManOpen (note: ManOpen must be running).

I haven't tried this with other apps and as always with hacks, YMMV. However, I too have found MTLibrarian useful (and certainly faster than certain other methods).

Cheers,

Lloyd
