If you're interested in knowing more about Speech technologies in Mac OS X,
you may find the following event of interest.

Apple Worldwide Developer Relations
----------------------------------
Dear Developer,
You're invited to attend an Apple hosted programming class (aka "Kitchen")
for Mac OS X Speech technologies on Wed September 5th - Friday September
7th. There's no charge to attend.
WHAT YOU"LL LEARN
We'll present information about the Speech Recognition and Text to Speech
APIs on Mac OS X, how to customize speech for your application, and how to
get the best performance and sound possible. Don't miss this opportunity to
work directly with Apple's Speech Technologies team to quickly speech enable
your application for Mac OS X or to resolve any speech related issues that
may be slowing your progress to Mac OS X.
NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT SPEECH ENABLING YOUR APPLICATION?
Apple9s Speech Recognition and Speech Synthesis Technologies now give
speech-savvy applications the power to carry out your voice commands, and
even speak back to you. In addition to the in-depth material described
above, this kitchen will also provide you with an overview of speech
synthesis, speech recognition, and voice verification technologies for Mac
OS X. We'll discuss new developer tools, APIs, and provide suggestions for
how speech technologies can be used in products for publishing, games,
disability access, education, scientific computing, personal information
management, and more.
REGISTRATION
The number of developers we can host is limited, so reserve your space as
