Let's start with, "What kind of application do you want to develop?" I've
ported (most of) a large C++ application that was previously running on
Win32 and Solaris using Project Builder. This application, however, is
strictly a server with no UI.

To do C++ with good UI support, I would choose CodeWarrior. On Mac, its IDE
is excellent. (At this point I usually go into a rant about how bad their
Solaris product is....) IMO, the PowerPlant class library that comes with
it is the main point in favor of CW.

...but it's a much nicer toy than Java! :-)
