QuickTime requires window server

  • Subject: QuickTime requires window server

I have a command-line tool that, amongst other things, loads sound files
using QuickTime calls. It therefore links against the QuickTime framework.

Because it's just a command-line tool then as expected I can connect to the
Mac remotely and run the program... but only if there is someone logged on
and the window server is running.

If the Mac is sitting waiting for login, then running anything that links
against QuickTime causes errors like this:

kCGErrorIllegalArgument : CGSNewConnection cannot get connection port
kCGErrorIllegalArgument : CGSNewConnection cannot get connection port
kCGErrorInvalidConnection : CGSGetEventPort: Invalid connection

or

kCGErrorFailure : initCGDisplayState: No display interlock
Bus error

I don't want to have to insist that my customers leave someone logged in
just so that their machine is able to run processes that deal with sound.

Any ideas?
