True in general...but for my purposes (i.e. synchronization) it would be fine, and perhaps even preferable, to restrict the service to local disks anyway. Each disk involved in the sync process would be the responsibility of the machine to which it was physically connected. Among other things, that would prevent shared volumes from being monitored in multiple places.
