Well, yes. It should be "is" updated, since "none" takes a singular verb.

Also, the opening clause governs the entire paragraph: "When you use manual
menu enabling," none of the menu items is updated automatically. That's
because you aren't using "automatic" menu enabling.

It's a truism, but it isn't wrong. I think the point they were trying to
emphasize is that, when automatic updating is turned off, even the
Application Kit classes stop doing automatic updating.

I still think you're an expert. :-)
