I've just discovered this little inconsistency between the traditional
Mac OS behavior (which can be seen in the Finder in Icon mode since the
list mode is buggy) and this behavior.
In fact, I'm sure it's a more complex topic since it depends on whether
you consider the contextual menu to be the one of the selected row(s) or
the one of the TableView.
That's probably a matter of taste, and a difficult design decision. Even
though I use the mac since ten years, I prefer the "new" behavior that
contextual menus do not select the corresponding item. This allows to
trash a file you see on the desktop, from another app, without even
activating the Finder. So that's more or less the icon mode in the Finder
that seems buggy for me now...
Anyway my feeling is that Apple should uniformize that through the system,
and we developers should not try to interfere. Call that enlighten
dictatorship or ruled democracy, if you like ;-)
