I agree that this is a conveniant feature (I'd be happy if OS X just
remembered the state of my account when I logged out, even if it took a few
seconds to set everything up again).

One down side of this feature though are the RAM requirements for XP. I
believe that I've read that you basically start with 128 MB (to work
comfortably) and should add at least 64 more for each account since they're
all open simulataneously. I know that the claim can easily be made that RAM
is cheap enough these days, but for the family computer, I dunno that joe
consumer tends to beef his machine up with 384 MB of RAM so that his family
can jump around between accounts a little bit quicker. Just another thing to
consider...
