Hi all
Mac OS X already has a similar feature to this. It already allows me to
maintain a PPP connection when I log out, and then my son and/or
daughter can log back in without having to redial our ISP.
Isn't this feature just the implementation of a background UNIX process
that 'belongs' to the System (and therefore can be set not to cancel the
PPP connection when a user logs out of their account???). Extending this
feature would be an excellent on Mac OS X.
Imagine if only 1 person had to start up Classic and that process
remained available for other users when they logged in - and didn't have
to wait for it to reload ;-)
Wouldn't it be great if my son didn't have to wait for me to finish
downloading a file in OmniWeb so that he could log in to his account and
do something? (I suppose OmniWeb could implement this anyway.)
Wouldn't it be great if, as administrator, I could set a process to run
automatically on my Mac such that it would check all the users mac.com
accounts, rather than each of us separately having to log in?
These are just a few users I can think of with a Mac in a home setting
shared amongst the family.
Cheers
Dale
