Its on the webpage about 10.1: http://www.apple.com/macosx/newversion/
Well, it seems pretty cool at first glance, although I'm not sure what this
means in terms of an OS X box communicating with an OS 9 box. It could be
part of the coming 9.2 update, or perhaps OS X supports both the old format
as well as the new. I'm wondering what network protocol this will ride on
top of. It could open up the possibilities for sending commands to
non-Macs. Just as an example, one could theoretically write a shim to allow
OSA to send commands to a Windows machine by translating them into DCOM
messages on the receiving end.
I'm glad to see Apple supporting standards wherever they can (iDisk via
WebDAV, for instance), but I do hope that OS X and OS 9 will be able to talk
to each other across networks.
