Maybe deleting the following files will help:

~/Library/Preferences/Preferences/LSApplications
~/Library/Preferences/Preferences/LSSchemes
~/Library/Preferences/Preferences/LSClaimedTypes

Otherwise if you open Stuffit Expander so that it appears
on the dock, option-command dragging the archive to the
icon on the task bar will force the application to
accept the file.

Hi,

since about a week, my StuffIt Expander no longer accepts .sit files. When trying to open manually an archive, all .sit files are greyed out. However, all .sit files, as well as .hqx, .gz etc. still have the StuffIt icon.

On OS 9 I'd say it would be time to rebuild the Desktop Database.

Any idea for OS X, anybody?

Thanks,
Markus
