Mouse movement and Edges of screen

In my program, events are polled at each turn of the timed loop (characters
of the keyboard evaluated, position of mouse captured). The problem with
capturing the position of the mouse is, I need to determine the relative
velocity at which the mouse is moving. This works great using [NSEvent
mouseLocation] until I hit the edge of the screen, where the mouse can't
move past it.

How can I determine where the user is trying to move his mouse when it's at
the edge of the screen, -or- how can I force the mouse into the center of
the screen?
