CFBundleVersion questions

  • Subject: CFBundleVersion questions

Hi All,

The documentation is a bit unclear on this.

1. Some documents talk about format #.#.#, others about #.#.#d#. What is the correct format?
2. The default version assigned by PB for Cocoa applications is 0.1 and for bundles is 0.0.1d1. Why so?
3. Somewhere I remember to read a comment that the Finder is using CFBundleVersion, but there was no explanation how the version is used.
4. Is there some API to access CFBundleVersion?
5. Is it OK for my own application to use the version, or should I invent another key? My idea is while searching Plug Ins to load the one with the latest version. Is there an API that can help me here? (I know about [[NSBundle mainBundle] builtInPlugInsPath], but was wondering if there is something else).

Thanks
