Objective-C++ is coming back (we had it in NeXTSTEP), so if the code in question adheres to the model-view-controller paradigm, it's feasible to leave a large part of the code in C++ while the GUI gets rewritten using Cocoa and Obj-C.

Does anyone know where it is possible to find more information on Objective-C++?

If you mean the Obj-C++ compiler and its status in OS X, I think it's coming in 10.1, and there has been some discussion of it on darwin-development (searchable archives available at http://www.darwinfo.org/)
