Animated GIFs and NSImage ??

Hello,

Does anyone know how to display an animated gif using an NSIMage ?
How do you determine that the NSImage is a gif and that it has multiple
frames ? Should it be opened as an NSMovie instead. Is there an easy way
to determine if an NSImage is in fact an animated gif ?

Thanks for any clues in advance.
Regards,
Bob M.
