At their core NSThreads are POSIX threads. The difference, as I
understand it, is that NSThread sets up things which make life easier
when programming multi-threaded Cocoa apps. If the Omni Groups
searchable web archive is working, you can try searching the Mac OS X
Dev mail list archives for threads.
