I may be wrong, but a simple way to see if something is written in Cocoa
is to inspect its bundle's info.plist file. Look for keys like
NSPrincipalClass. Such keys are only used by Cocoa apps.

Inside Mac OS X: System Overview (dated Feb 2001).
