NSUserDefaults contents?

I looked into them, turns out there are three elements that caught my attention:
NSInterfaceStyle (set to "macintosh", but I bet this is just left over from NeXT)
NSMenuBarSpansScreen (set to YES)
NSUIHeartBeatCycle

What do these do?
