The allegation was one of superiority, not inferiority.
The implication was that Cocoa is superior, that it derives from
earlier software (NeXTStep) used for these wonderful purposes,
and yet the purposes cited are inimical to freedom and respect
for people. They presume that it is acceptable for private
companies to track people's personal private communications &
relationships, and for government agencies (in this case nominally
a quango) to spy on people (as the USPS has been found to do with
their recently revealed "Eagle's Eye" program to carefully watch,
track & report to feral law enforcement agencies, the financial
transactions of what turns out to be tens of thousands of
primarily poorer people).
Now, if you'd said that it had been used to develop something
beneficial, something positive, something that prevented
violation of people's rights instead of encouraging it, then
I'd agree it was probably superior. But your examples
contradict this.
Of course, Apple's old ad campaigns come to mind,
and the competition: "How I used my Mac to save the
loose-leafed squirrel darter from extinction & teach
orphaned 3 year old Burundi cancer patients to read
at the same time.".
