This isn't particularly easy, neither to understand nor to explain via e-mail -- it really requires a dialog, and lots of examples. You might want to see if there's a university/community college near you that teaches C, and then enroll in a class.


Alas, the only course around here is to "teach" folks how to do windows. After which the students brag about being "computer literate." I'm in a Catch-22; I can't afford to move back to Ann Arbor or anywhere else unless I make money with my Killer App first.

You do not have to stick with an OS when learning how to programm, you do not even need a "real" programming language. Just get a book or a lesson about programming principles, it will help you a lot. I remember that Codewarrior References CDs some time ago shipped with a "Programming Principles" book in PDF (I may have a copy of that, ask me if you are interested).

If you get lost with pointers, just wait to meet recursion. Your head will just twist from inside out, literally :-)
