MP, OpenGL, and Frame Interrupts

  • Subject: MP, OpenGL, and Frame Interrupts

Hello all. We're pulling our hair out over here trying to work with frame interrupts on OS9 and OSX.

In OS9, one can sync drawing to frame interrupts on a single-task, single-processor system. When one moves to MP/Threads, frame interrupts are discarded, and can't be passed to the drawing engine (OpenGL, for example).

Do these limitations exist on OSX? Can I sync CG or OpenGL drawing calls to frame interrupts, or are they ignored by the kernel since it's inherently (dynamically) MP/Thread aware? How can I access them in a fairly straight-forward manner? I'd rather have a BSD or Cocoa API (as if wishes make the world go round) since I don't know how well the Carbon display manager works with cocoa apps.

L'il help?
