You should check Stepwise for direction and sources to creating
docklings (which are faceless applicatoins in the dock). There are also
several docklings available with source, which might help you regarding
the way to handle icons in the dock. Check the docklings section on
apple download page for these docklings.
Otherwise, there is a method in NSApplication to change the icon (which
is what you might want to do).
