I just had to ask this, after being asked it myself and not knowing the answer.

Why is the ".m" suffix used for Objective-C files? I appreciate why it can't be ".c" or ".o" or such, but why specifically ".m"? If indeed there's any reason.

My understanding was it meant iMplementation.
