I seem to remember an article on how one can embed a custom grahic in a disk image. We are doing a drag-install for one of our cocoa apps and want to have a set of instructions appear as the background of our disk image (basically the same thing as was done with the OmniWeb .dmg).

Initial searches have come up blank and the DiskCopy app doesn't seem to have such a feature. Using Finder, one can select an image to use for the .dmg window's background, but it appears that only a reference is being stored in the .dmg rather than a copy of the graphic.

What the others do is to store the image _on_ the disc image, but keeping it invisible by using a "." as the first character of the file name (or the enclosing folder, I forget).

Use the Terminal to browse the contents of one of these disc images and you'll see how it's set up. I also belive that there are a couple of threads in the list archive on various issues pertaining to this if you'd like to have a look.
