A quick search for printing even/odd pages (PDF even odd) on Google turns up that Reader 4.0 should do this automatically

As has been pointed out before, a Cocoa expert has a much better chance of finding something of value on Google or any place else due to superior knowledge--you know what terms to use as search parameters.

This has ZERO to do with Cocoa, or Cocoa knowledge. It's strictly a problem solving situation. Applying creative thought to the situation (instead of just to writing 'witty' one line endings to your sig)

As far as printing HTML goes, I honestly didn't even think that was the target, since the Apple docs are in PDF format too, and that is much better suited to printing..

4.0.5 has a solution. It may not have the extra stuff you want, but it DOES have a solution.
As for trying to find software that already exists, please note that on softrak.stepwise.com I looked over all of the following in the Mac OS X category: Finance, Personal Info Managers, Presentation Tools, Spreadsheets, Word Processing, Source Code, System Utilities, and Workspace Enhancements, for a total of 130 packages! All I got was several hours of frustration before I posted my first question on this list!

Again.. you're too focused on this being a Cocoa problem.. it isn't.. I suggested searching the Open Source sites, not Softrak.

Did you look into any of the PERL stuff.. for all you know, there may be an example program that does just this. Mind you, anything that does this won't have the added scaling that you want, but that should be doable in Preview itself.

The real problem here is with Apple and their Laserwriter 8 driver: most of the low and medium cost printers seem to be using this driver, merely adding a "Postscript Printer Description" (PPD) file of their own. The odd or even functionality belongs in Laserwriter 8 because too many developers, including Apple itself, are too lazy or forgetful to include this feature in their application.

It's not Apple's fault that this isn't supported by other companies printers.

Did you file a bug that it isn't a part of preview?

As it stands right now I have only two choices: print one sided, which is a waste of paper and a major irritation trying to read with a binder in your lap. Or, print two-sided without being able to print at anything else than 100% size in Classic. I could live with this solution save for the fact that the first thing I want to print is the Vermont Recipes--and the margins are only about 5mm, which means I must punch holes through the text on most pages. Another pain in the butt.

Well.. I'm so sorry that this tutorial that Bill worked so hard on is causing you so much grief.
