Well.. I'm so sorry that this tutorial that Bill worked so hard on is
causing you so much grief.
Mr. Cheeseman's "Vermont Recipes" are _not_ giving me grief, and I
resent
the hell out of you continually putting words in my mouth. Mr.
Cheeseman
is _not_ responsible for anything to do with my not being able to print
two-sided and at slightly reduced magnification. Indeed, if I did not
find his "recipes" of great value, why the hell would I be spending so
much of my copious free time trying to get them printed? Don't bother
answering that, as I have little doubt that you will find a way to twist
it about and once again try to make me into some sort of villain. I am
sick of your scurrilous attacks on me and ask you to stop posthaste; I
have enough on my plate trying to learn Cocoa!
Oh, for $%(^ sake.
I notice that you've only responded to the throwaway line at the end of
the preceding email, not to the points raised in the serious part, viz:
The problems are nothing to do with Cocoa.
You would be likely to have exactly the same issues from Windows.
You've already said you have the same issues under classic.
- Inability to print double-sided is a problem with your printer driver.
Bug the manufacturer.
- Inability to scale and adjust page layout is not even that. It could
be considered as being a valid case for a feature request in preview,
but then you're trying to use software beyond it's capabilities, so
you're
probably out of luck with that one too.
For the double-sided issue, use the time-honoured tradition of printing
odd-numbered pages, then reversing the pages and printing even-numbered
ones.
For the gutter adjustment issue, your best bet is to find someone with a
copy of Adobe inDesign, and use that (or, better still, get them to do
it for you and you won't have to worry about such troublesome issues as
learning how to use the software). You're flaming Apple for 'being
lazy', but I can't see they've done anything wrong.
Another possible solution might be if Apple were to release the source
for the docs (I'm guessing TeXinfo here, and I'd personally like a copy
of the docs in 'info' format), but then you'd still need the tools to
produce the docs to your satisfaction, and a willingness to learn how to
use them.
FWIW, a google search of 'pdf double-sided' or 'pdf multi-page' might
well give something useful, as might 'pdf gutter adjust'.
