Roger,
Back on my NeXTStation, I was able to talk to my modem on serial
port A with "tip cufa", and so on.
Since Mac OS X doesn't have "tip", is there any way to talk to
the modem from a shell that you can tell us about? I can see
/dev/cu.modem there...
